An Untimely Death

Here is a ram that we found during our hunt this year. We spent time looking for him to decided if he was a ram we wanted to hunt. He came up missing and a few days later one of our guides, Chuck Hill glassed him up laying down. After watching him for a short while Chuck and a couple of the guys that were with him determined he was dead. They made their way over to him and called AZ Game and Fish. The wildlife manager checked the ram out and decided the ram had either fallen off a cliff or had been knocked off by another ram.

Courtney Murry's AZ Rocky Mtn Bighorn

Greg and I were able to hunt with Courtney Murray this year on her 2012 AZ Rocky mtn sheep hunt. Courtney had seen the ram we called "Almost" on our blog and said if we could relocate him she would like to try and take him. I hiked in to some country and got a break when I saw a ram for only a few seconds at a mile and half or so. I called Greg and told him I had him located. Greg, Tony and Courtney's dad and uncle were looking for a ram in some other country we had been hunting. The next morning we all met up and hiked back into where the ram had been and found him right where I had left him the night before. Courtney made a great shot on her ram and took a very old and mature ram. Courtney had previously taken a desert and now a great rocky. Thanks to Tony Stanley for all his help.

Michael Ellison's Rocky Mountain Ram

High Desert Outfitters was fortunate to be able to hunt with Mr. Michael Ellison on his rocky mountain sheep hunt. Greg ad I started our scouting in early spring and kept a regular routine of re-checking rams and looking for new ones throughout the spring and summer. We started hunting on the 10th of November and finally decided to take this ram on the 20 of December. We had looked at close to 175-200 rams in our scouting and hunting. We had so much fun on this hunt. Thanks to Michael Ellison again for letting us be a part of this great hunt. Greg and I would like to thank Chuck Hill, Richard Fite, Dan Koons, Buck Leavitt and Tony Stanley, Sam Dieringer for their help. Ill post up more pictures and video of this hunt. The Almost Ram

Here is a great ram we found. Greg glassed this ram up with his 10's from 3/4 of a mile away. I was pretty close to where he was so I was able to sneak in and get some video and pictures of this ram. Its to bad he has a short left horn or I think he would be in serious trouble.

Here is a great ram we passsed on the first couple of days. Him and his ewes walked past us at 42yards. We kept saying If only he had a little more length.

Here are a few of the rams we been looking at the past few days.The rut is a little slow but we been seeing rams butting heads and chasing ewes and posturing. We came home for a few days to enjoy Thanksgiving with our families. We will be back trying to find that speacial ram starting tomorrow.

Sheep Whisper/Scouting

This past weekend scouting for sheep Greg and I had an encounter with a group of sheep that left us wondering what in the world just happened. We got into the middle of this group and they acted like we wernt even there. we spent around 30 minutes videoing and taking pictures of them. Alot of the time we were within 30yds and less.The last picture of the small ram came to within 6yds. I joked with Greg about us being the "sheep whisper"

Rocky Scouting 10 21 12

Here's some pictures and video of rams found this past weekend. The rut seem's to be starting. Greg and I are stepping up our scouting for Rocky mtn sheep. We hope to have alot more picture and video to post up before we start hunting.



Lunch Time Ram

At Lunch today I looked up and saw this ram coming straight for us. I told Greg to hold tight and dont move to fast.The ram passed within 20yds of us.

Rocky Scouting 9/1/12

I made a scouting trip this past weekend to look for some Rockies. It was a foggy rain filled day. We still managed to find a few sheep. Thanks Sam for sticking it out in the rain with me.

Greg and I went scouting for rockies again last weekend. It was extremely hot and the bugs were bad. You can tell the bugs are bothering these rams. We went to an area we had never been to before. We found 11 rams and a few ewes and lambs. We are now up to 80 plus rams on our scouting.

Rocky Scouting 6/24/12

Greg and I have been continuing our scouting for rockies the last few weekends. We've been braving the heat and putting in our time. On our way home from this trip we counted up how many rams we have seen. In all total we've seen 65 plus rams. Even though we havent found the ram were looking for it's been exciting to see so many rams. Stay tuned on more rockies..

Rams & Rams And Lambs

Greg and I have been spending alot of time lately scouting for sheep. So far we've found 37 differnt rams. We've got some video of some of the rams and some lambs. It was really neat to watch these lambs running and jumping and having a good time. Some of the video is a little shaky.
