Well with 14 deer points I didn't draw a tag. So This year Im going to try my luck with a bow.

Sherwood Boys Jr. Deer Hunt

I had the opportunity to take my three boys hunting this past weekend. For two of them it was their first hunt. We set a wall tent and some other things for a comfortable camp. We had some great weather and some great food thanks to my mom and my wife for hooking us up. On this hunt we could hunt coues or mule deer. For the first day we hunted for coues deer but didn't have much luck.On the second day we had some info on a big buck from one of my friends Eric Frost who was up quail hunting. My two youngest and I found the big buck but we could never close the gap to get them a shot.

 My good friend Bobby Ginos came up On Friday night and hunted with us Saturday and Sunday. Bobby had found a couple bucks on Saturday night so we went back in to try and find them. We couldn't find his two bucks but we found a couple of others that would do just fine for this jr. hunt. All three of my boys made the stalk over to try and relocate the buck. It is a challenge when you have small kids and cactus and all the other things that get thrown in to the hunt. We got to within 150 yds of the velvet buck and Zane set up and took the shot. unfortunately he missed. The buck took off running and I told Brock to get ready as soon as  the buck stopped to take him. Brock made a great shot on the buck at 270 yds under pressure. I had a blast hunting with my boys. I hope to do it many more time as they grow up.

Andy Wood / Santa Rosa Island Buck

Here is my good friend Andy Wood with a buck he took off Santa Rosa Island in 2007. I talked to Andy a couple of days ago and he is heading out to the island this next week. I cant wait to see what he brings back from this trip. Don Boles 12AW

In 2005 Greg and I both guided mule deer hunters for our friend and outfitter Marvin James. Greg and his hunter took this tremendous buck. This was the first mule deer that Don had ever took. Good luck trying to top this one Don.  This buck scored right 200" Congratulations Greg and Don.

Mark Bower / 12AW

In 2006 I guided a hunter for Marvin James another outfitter and friend. Marvin runs a great camp. I had guided for Marvin the year before and had found a couple areas that would always have does in it. The plan was simple, keep watching the does and sooner or later a big buck would show up. It worked out perfect.

Shered Sherwood's /12AW Mule Deer

In 2007 My two brothers and father drew the late 12 AW tag. I was able to go up and help them for a few days before heading to a sheep hunt. After glassing from one of my spots I found this buck tending some doe's. We made the decision to make a run on him. We made it to our shooting spot with just a few minutes of light to spare. Shered made two quick shots. We decide to back out and come back in the morning. We found the buck had gone 400 yds on pure adrenaline.
